TYPICAL DAY

Your day begins well before sunrise with a continental breakfast at the lodge before heading out for the morning shoot. We primarily hunt geese in the vast grain fields in the morning. Peas tend to be the birds’ favorite breakfast of choice, followed by barley and wheat, all of which are abundant within minutes of the lodge. We will use either lay-down blinds or upright blinds depending on the conditions and the hunters’ preference. Blinds are stuffed with straw leftover in the fields after the harvest. We then surround the blinds with a decoy spread consisting of full body decoys complemented by an array of silhouettes and, if deemed necessary, an assortment of mallard and pintail field decoys.

After a successful shoot, we return to the lodge for a hearty, country style breakfast prepared by our camp chef. Afternoons provide hunters with the opportunity to relax in the comfort of the lodge, play cards, watch television, have a nap or hone your shooting skills on some clay targets.

Before departing for the evening hunt we offer a light lunch featuring home made soups, sandwiches and pastries. Then it is time once again to put on the camouflage and head out for the evening duck hunt. Ducks are mainly hunted over one of the many potholes or creeks in the area, although eventually we will set up on a field shoot depending on the best opportunity and the hunters’ preference. After sunset we return to the lodge for a full course, home cooked meal, and a glass of fine wine if this suits your taste.
